NEW CALL TO ARTISTS – JULY 2023 – MURALS!
***Deadline for submissions: Friday, September 29 by 5:00 PM EST.
To beautify city-owned Riverside Field, the City of Tarpon Springs through the Public Art Committee (PAC) is issuing this Call to Artists to create a mural for the park’s concession/storage building that will seamlessly blend with the surrounding neighborhood and the family-oriented activities of the park.
Location – Riverside Field, 833 Riverside Drive, Tarpon Springs. The park includes a playground, lighted sports fields, lighted tennis courts, concession stand (location of mural), picnic tables, benches and restrooms surrounded by residential neighborhoods. The sports played in this park include: football, soccer, and tennis.
Details – The compensation for the cohesive mural design to be painted on all four facades of the building is $4,000 (plus additional compensation for building prep and materials, not to exceed $2,500). An artist may submit up to three (3) original mural designs / color schemes for consideration by the PAC. In addition, the artist must submit a detailed list of supplies to be used and approximate cost of materials for each mural design submitted. Please submit artwork in a JPG or PDF format.
Artists are invited to visit the project site at their convenience. Photos of the designated building are provided.
Approval Process – The PAC will review the submitted proposals at the October 11, 2023 meeting at 2:00 PM in the 2nd floor City Hall media room, 324 Pine Street, Tarpon Springs. Artists are encouraged to attend the meeting and present their proposal and to answer any questions.
When the PAC awards an artist the project, it must be reviewed and approved by the City of Tarpon Springs prior to generating a contract that will be provided to the artist for review and notarized signature. Important: the artist should not pre-purchase any supplies for the mural until the artist contract is accepted and signed by both parties. The mural should then be completed within four weeks or less after acceptance of the contract by the City of Tarpon Springs or by the mutually agreed upon completion date within the contract.
Proposal Requirements – The project proposal should include a text document with the artist’s background and experience, a description of the project, a proposed schedule/timeline for completion, a detailed supplies budget and a JPG or PDF of the proposed artwork.
Submission – Please email your project proposal to Diane Wood via email dwood@ctsfl.us in a file no larger than 2 MB per image. Questions: Call 727.942.5605, Mon.-Fri., 10 AM – 4 PM.
